Jerry Wright has been an avid cyclist for 40 years, with his first adult bicycle being a Motobecane Grand Touring that he purchased in 1976. He bought his first commuting bike later that same year, and has been a dedicated cycle commuter ever since.
Jerry's first mountain biking experience came in 1990, with a borrowed bike on a trip to the Black Hills with some friends. He was hooked, and bought his first mountain bike as soon as he could afford one. By 1992, Jerry was racing mountain bikes and building his own race wheels.
In 1996, Jerry and his wife, Laurie, moved to Hayward and promptly joined both the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) and the Chequama Mamas cycling club. He has been an active member of both clubs, helping CAMBA build trails and guiding people on those trails at various events.
Recently retired from a 25 year career in the law, most recently serving as the Sawyer County Circuit Court Judge. Jerry is now a coach for the Hayward Composite High School Mountain Bike racing team and has joined both the Sawyer County Search and Rescue Team and IMBA's National Mountain Bike Patrol. He is looking forward to his new career as a guide in the woods that he has called home for 20 years.
